Phuture (Live) | G-Ha & Olanskii – Jaeger/Sunkissed/Oslo | R.L.O.C ( Ricky Late | Oskar Pask | Olefonken | Petter Celius
Acid House pioneers Phuture touch down in Oslo on the Frædag billing with a live set featuring squelching 303’s and impulsive 808’s. DJ Pierre and Lothario Lee bring the entire legacy of House with them as guests of G-Ha & Olanskii’s Frædag residency with the usual suspects, Ricky Late, Olefonken, Oskar Pask and Celius residing in our lounge.
Phuture is a Chicago based group founded in 1985 by DJ Pierre, Spanky and Herb J. The group’s 1987 release “Acid tracks” lay claim to being the first-ever Acid house record using Roland’s TB-303 that kick started a whole new genre of music that has been emulated by countless artists around the world. Acid House took over the UK and the Rave culture was born as a direct result. The Summer of Love in London primarily was a direct result of the first Acid Track and the innovative thinking of the members of PHUTURE. Acid House is a genre that has it’s rightful place in the annals of electronic music and its influence can be found seeping into genres as far afield as the UK bass genres and Techno.
After a 20-year break the project was revived by its founding members and inducted Lothario Lee into the group. They picked up where they left off, but with DJ Spanky’s untimely passing last, DJ Pierre and Lothario Lee carry the baton for Acid House and Spanky’s legacy. Phuture is still intimately connected to this thing called Acid House and the original players will continue to baptize the new generation. As rumours of a new album brood, it sounds like they are also ready again to make yet another significant contribution to electronic music.
