A Jæger institution, Mandagsklubben has been with us since the beginning and its residents Jeff Niels, Andre Bravo and Davidow make up an essential part of the foundation of Jæger today. They are the glue that ties the week together as we descend from the weekend into the week, providing a platform for some of Oslo’s up-and-coming DJs and a dance floor for those that like to avoid the weekend masses. Where Andre Bravo is Mandagsklubben’s extrovert Jeff Niels its unassuming explorer, Davidow is the quiet, reserved rock at the centre of the concept. Bridging the gap between Niels and Bravo, Davidow’s sets can go from the first precursory moves towards the dance floor to hedonistic heights at peak time.
Davidow crams that into the hour-long Jæger mix this week, with a mix that’s comfortably nestled within the margins of House and Techno in its most unpretentious form. Combining elements of afro-beat with syncopated hats and willowy synth bass-lines ,4-4 kicks and acid stabs, Davidow’s mix lures and then embeds with its attractive arrangements and its primal pulse. Davidow strips everything down to basics where uncomplicated rhythms and unambiguous sonic textures are familiar and immediately engaging. Davidow takes us through the narrative of a night within the hour, which by midway sees us in at peak time with KiNK’s “Throwing Elbows”. Davidow keeps the energy up there for the moment with afro-rhythms before dropping into deeper territory again with Joeski’s I want you.

I’m Davidow. Every Monday I play here at Jaeger and have been doing that for almost 9 years now. I have DJed most of my life and produced music a lot more. I’m happy to still have the privilege to play every Monday, and looking forward to tonight.
