Our Jæger mix guest this week is originally from Trondheim, but resides in Sydney, where she’s DJ’d since 2005. Linda Jenssen has been playing records for the better part of two decades, with a sincere dedication to the pioneering roots of House music. She plays regularly around Australia and spends her summers in Norway, where she can be found playing the likes of Dattera til Hagen and Blå. She’s hosted several residencies around Sydney and has contributed to a weekly Radio show on Bondi FM with Eddie Wong since 2007.
Jenssen stopped by the Jæger mix on her latest sojourn to Norway, to lay down a mix from the deeper corners of House music. Bass-lines, anchored in the lower register around four-four kicks, move at a reticent pace with the accompaniment. Sustained legato keys and cosmic synths create immense textural layers that float between syncopated hats and the odd R&B or Gospel vocal melisma. These elements conspire in a mix for “lazy Sunday afternoons” as Linda Jenssen intended.
