Troll records affiliate, Marie Steffensen stepped in to our sauna for this edition of the Jæger mix. She brought a bag full of low-lying bass modulations and House beats to our new weekly Sunday residency and mix series. The viscerally adept set lounges often over the odd lazy vocal or elongated chords contrasting the staccato percussion and progression of the tracks. Steffensen allows for some more energetic moments too with tech-tracks that bubble to the surface intermittently, before a Rhodes piano or mystifying crystalline pad drags it down to the murky darkness of electronic music abyss. There’s always a charming melody or a up-lifting chord progression just around the corner as well in the mix, and Marie Steffensen continually plays on these two elements for her mix , taking the listener on something of an emotional journey for her hour at the decks.
