FRIDAY
MUD: ATJAZZ – Starbase 17 Celebration

Club Jaeger and MUD Session proudly present FRÆDAG x ATJAZZ – STARBASE 17 CELEBRATION, Friday 29 May at Jaeger Oslo – Basement, 21.00–02.00/03.00. But wait, there’s more to the event, adding the element of surprise with her artistic touch, we present the performance _hourglass by Amisha Kumra. But that’s not all, prior to Frædag, MUD stirs up the dancefloor with their HOUSE EXCHANGE concept. While keeping the basement busy, international DJ and producer Sally C graces Jaeger’s Backyard, with local stalwarts g-HA and Olanskii behind the decks.

After a quite successful club night with SSO and Jaeger, guesting Coflo earlier this year, Jaeger and MUD Session team up again for their next edition of club festivities in May. Yes Yes Y’all, this booking by Jaeger is extra special to us at MUD, as it deeply resonates with our musical taste. From his first guesting at Jaeger back in 2012, to a collaborative night with SSO at Sentralen in 2023, Atjazz (Martin Iveson) has kept us coming back for more. And this event marks a very special occasion, as we celebrate and honor Atjazz’s recently released quintessential album, Starbase 17. With high spirits, love and respect, MUD and Jaeger welcome ATJAZZ.

ATJAZZ:

Setting sail on a mammoth musical journey in 1995, with his first releases arriving in early 1996, Martin Iveson, aka Atjazz, has become globally renowned for his creativity and consistently refined sound. Ever evolving, he continues to imprint his unmistakable style wherever the journey leads.  From a youth misspent skateboarding in North-eastern England to running respected independent labels, producing and remixing worldwide, Atjazz stands for style, innovation and integrity in dance music. After moving to the Midlands in the early 1990s, he honed his craft at the renowned game studio Core Design Ltd., contributing to titles including Tomb Raider, while developing his own deep, soulful and forward-thinking sound.

After 13 years, he founded Mantis Recordings as a platform for collaboration and experimentation, launching key works like “Story”, “That Something” and “Labfunk”, helping define his emotive style and building a loyal global following. In 2009, he launched Atjazz Record Company, later expanding with “Less Than Ten”, allowing further creative exploration and freedom across genres. A sought-after DJ, he has played globally and built a strong bond with South Africa, earning the Best International Producer award and the nickname “Themba.” His remix work includes Bob Sinclar, Fred Everything, Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, Jimpster, Osunlade, Kerri Chandler, Karizma, Nitin Sawhney, St Germain and many more, while collaborations with Jullian Gomes and others have helped shape modern deep house, inspiring new generations worldwide. Now, the journey reaches a new milestone. Starbase 17 is out now — a vast and ambitious new album that stands as a celebration of Atjazz’s enduring creative spirit. Featuring 27 tracks, the project brings together an extraordinary collection of incredibly talented artists from across the global music spectrum, each contributing their own voice while seamlessly blending into Atjazz’s unmistakable sonic universe. Starbase 17 is both a reflection on decades of musical exploration and a bold statement of intent for the future — expansive, collaborative and forward-facing, reaffirming Atjazz’s position as one of electronic music’s most respected and visionary producers.

Setting the stage for the performance _hourglass, we present Amisha Kumra, also known as “Misha.” She is a dynamic movement artist hailing from Oslo, Norway, with roots in Punjab, India. Her artistic journey encompasses a wide array of disciplines, which makes her move through dance, choreography, acting, modeling, DJing, teaching and facilitating encounters of movement. Misha has a background and practice in various dance styles and cultures such as hip-hop, house, popping, waacking, contemporary, ballet, Bollywood, bhangra (North Indian folk dance), and kathak (North Indian classical dance).

_hourglass:

Is an ongoing choreographic project led by Amisha Kumra, grounded in women’s experiences within club culture as a source of choreographic innovation. In this work-in-progress sharing, the 2 dancers engage in a physical and relational exploration of how women navigate between learned and authentic movement within underground culture. Through dialogue, improvisation, and structured starting points inspired by Kumra’s practice _peeling the purple onion, they investigate how layers of internalized norms can be peeled away to make space for a more listening and embodied expression. The work moves between _Balancing – inner presence, breath, and energy – and _OffBalancing – movement shaped by the external gaze and the social dynamics of the club. The audience is invited into an open space where rhythm, gaze, and presence shape the material in conversation between the bodies in space.

Lastly, the night wouldn’t be complete without MUD Session’s own concept. Come and celebrate movement with us at MUD’s House Exchange late night in Jaeger’s basement.

———-

MUD HOUSE EXCHANGE: Yes, we are back with a special edition of our House Exchange concept, meaning: NO COMPETITION and NO BATTLE. Simply put, we invite you to exchange movements and energies in true club spirit within a cypher (circle) format. Sign up at the door, max 10 participants, first-come, first-served principle, so don’t be late! Couples are paired up randomly, where they exchange to a track within 3–4 minutes, and dope house music is served by our residents DJ Ghar, Niwin, and on this occasion ATJAZZ as our special guest of honor. On host/MC duties we have MUD’s very own founder: Chriz, setting the right mood and atmosphere for the evening.

In short: good times and great vibes await. While this initiative’s aim is to uplift the   local House Dance community, all movement lovers, styles and practices are welcome to join in. We serve an open space where dancers can exchange, release, and express themselves to a diverse selection of house-oriented music. Not ready for the Exchange and just want to jam? Not to worry, as jam sessions are an essential and inclusive part of our concept.
