Øyvind Morken celebrates 4/20 with Riddim Mix

Øyvind Morken provides a mix celebrating soundsystem culture and all things dub on this holiday

Jaeger resident DJ and bass music impresario Øyvind Morken, takes it back to the roots, back to the soundsystem culture that inspired it all for 4/20. Recorded in Jaeger’s basement in the company of our very own wall of bass, Morken rides the spectral swell of low frequencies, charting a course from Lovers Rock to Dub Techno through the hour and half.

“Riddim Mix, a collection of music that came out of (or directly inspired by) the Jamaican Sound System culture for this day of 4/20,” says the DJ. It’s “full of Reggae, Digi-Dub, Dancehall, Dubby Electronics, Lovers Rock, Dub Techno and Disco Dub. So skin em up, and smoke em out!”

He encourages the listener to sit back as he transports us through hazy melodies and booming bass, finding far reaching corners in Morken’s always eclectic selections.
